Setting a Table with Citrus

Citrus trees seemingly spring out of every home in Santa Barbara, laden with fruit year round. Setting a table with citrus accents is simple and sustainable, not to mention the fragrance is delightful. Flower boss Amy Merrick, from New York, and SB Chic stylist Kelly Oshiro designed this bright, cheerful table for an al fresco dinner at Lotus Land in Montecito.

Kelly chose a rustic farmhouse table and wooden bentwood chairs as the foundation for her look. She layered the table with green glass votives, bone handled silverware, tall beeswax tapers and textured stoneware.

Amy used clay pots for her floral vessels and loosely arranged fruited branches, lilies and foraged greenery that she gathered on the grounds of Lotus Land. Small branches appeared at each place setting and larger fruits were scattered along the table runner to add to the texture.

Guests took home little baskets of citrus to enjoy in their own homes.
