Breakfast at Merci Montecito
What a treat it was to experience Merci Montecito! Elizabeth Colling, the owner, is beyond lovely. She has created an atmosphere that is all at once elevated, yet inviting - a testament to her profound artistry and chef-turned-stylist background. It felt even more intimate when her two beautiful daughters stopped by to charm us before they made their way to school.
In case there was any question, the food is delectable (and very photogenic). Our apricot toast and granola were carefully presented on pale white dishes with brass flatware. Each bite was comforting, warm and fresh. Coffee and tea were served in clean, clear glass mugs so that we could enjoy the ebony and honey colored liquids. It’s worth a visit just to see the impeccably designed space itself, to feel the subtly textured stoneware cups and bowls, ogle the hand wrapped toffee candies and to feel yourself sink into the blush booths. I truly found myself lingering a little longer than expected. We will definitely be back, again and again.
